Twitter, $5 Download, $9 CD! - October 12, 2009

Couple quick things: My 2009 EP After The Dawn is now only $5 for download!

Updating a previous item, uh, you don't need WinZip to download a zip file. Yeah, you'd think I'd have known that having been using a computer for 10 years or so... Thanks to a follower of mine on Twitter to point that out!

Speaking of Twitter, I am on there now. So please follow me, and I'll follow you! You'll get the latest info on any new music coming out. Lots of different stuff coming up - new songs, and some other types of music I've been playing around with. Exciting times... But in the meantime, if you haven't, go over to http:cdbaby.com/briandilts2 to download or buy the physical CD (now only $9) of After The Dawn!

After The Dawn EP - Download Info - August 19, 2009

As I've mentioned before, my EP After The Dawn is available on CD Baby. What you may not know is it's cheaper to download! Only $7 to download the 5-song EP. (as opposed to $9 buying the physical CD)

When you download it, you receive a ZIP file with all 5 songs and the album cover. If you're unfamiliar with ZIP files here's what you do.

1 ) Make sure you have WinZip 12.1. If you don't, you can get a free version here. Find the button that says "Download Evaluation Version".

2) Then after you go here and hopefully buy my album, and get the ZIP file via email...

3) just open it, select all the files (mp3 and jpeg), and press the "Extract" button. This will copy the files into whatever folder you want (Music Folder, Desktop, whatever).

It's that simple!

Any questions, just drop me a line!

Summer 2009 update - August 18, 2009

Hello all! It's been a long time since the last entry. Some very special events contribute to the delay. I bought a house with my fiancee, and then married my fiancee shortly after. So very happy times indeed!

After a fun, relaxing honeymoon in London (some pics to come soon), the creative juices are starting to flow again. Working on some new music, new lyrics, some coalescing into new songs. I'm also reworking some old songs that were put aside during the last recording session that made the EP After The Dawn. That EP, incidentally, is now available for purchase at CD Baby - download or CD! As far as the new songs, ideas are flowing about how to present them to the world, there will be more to come on that front soon.

On June 7, I was fortunate enough to perform along side some of the best songwriters on the east coast at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore, PA. I was selected one of 12 finalists the Philadelphia Songwriters Project's Annual Songwriting Contest for my song "Five Minutes Away". My solo performance of that song and "Shadow Ball" is available to view on my YouTube channel (scroll down, under "recent activity").  Check it out, and show it some love!

Both recordings of the songs I performed, "Five Minutes Away" and "Shadow Ball", are streaming on my website, and available on my 5-song EP After The Dawn.

That's about it for now - more to come soon!

After The Dawn is out! - February 2, 2009

A new recording of mine, an EP called After The Dawn is now available on CD Baby! Go here and check it out: cdbaby.com/briandilts2

New EP, After The Dawn - January 13, 2009

Happy news! I have recieved copies of my new EP, entitled After The Dawn. So I can now officially announce the release!

After The Dawn, a 5-song EP, will be released on CDBaby.com on or around Monday Feb. 2. There you will be able to either buy the physical CD or download the full EP (mp3).

So on Feb. 2, or maybe a little before, check http://cdbaby.com/briandilts and take a listen to samples and then either buy the CD or mp3 version (which will include album art)!
Additionally, I am now streaming the first two songs right on my website, without having to stay on the same page. As long as you are navigating through briandilts.com the music will continue to stream. You can always hit "stop", but I wouldn't recommend it.

Also, if you like myspace, go to my myspace page and you can hear EVERY song from the EP (for a limited time!). And add me as a friend!

I'll make an announcement when it's officially available. Until then, enjoy the streaming!

It is the 21st century... - October 18, 2007

...officially.

I have been into music podcasts lately and came across this one, maybe you already have.

He writes and records three songs a week and puts them into a weekly podcast. How cool?

First in a while - October 17, 2007

(I'll be doing a blog a day on my Blogger http://briandilts.blogspot.com, and posting it here too)

Well, it's the first entry I've done in a while. I've been busy getting back to work, that is, my teaching and accompanying position at Drexel University.

Working on a bunch of new songs, in preparation for perhaps another album. I want to improve on the first one, and so I know I'll be taking more time on this one than the last. On my first album, I played and sang everything. That was a great experience. For this next one I will need to wear more preverbial hats. I want this album to have more than the modest exposure Outside Looking In has gotten. So after I've emerged from my preproduction and begin recording in earnest, I will probably utilize other musicians than myself. Any string players, guitarists, and drummers please take note...

Meanwhile I have a show coming up on Nov. 15. See my website for details.

Finally, I'm offering my first album as a free download for a while. I don't know how long, but I want as many people to hear this album as possible. So go to my website (if you're not already there!):
http://briandilts.com/. Click on "music" for the free downloads, and "performances" for my latest performance schedule.

Most of my blogs from here on out will be not plugs for my music, but rather the kind of things I intend for this blog: music, lyrics, thoughts, articles, pictures. Comments encouraged!

That's all for now.
Peace,
Brian

Drexel Performance - March 7, 2007

Well, thanks to everyone who came out to the concert for the premier performance of my songs last night. It was a success, though I had some sound issues. They didn't have both piano and vocal coming out of the same speaker and my vocal level was very low. Also I felt like I was playing for a black screen - I could see NOBODY, not even people in the front row. That just felt weird to me. Maybe because in the past I've done vocal accompanying in that theater it didn't seem weird then. But when YOU'RE singing, you certainly lose the intimacy when you can't see anyone.

But for all that, it still went extremely well. The other faculty performers were fantastic. If you didn't make it out to this one, I strongly suggest coming out to the next one, whenever it may be.

I have a couple open mics coming up soon. I'll keep you posted on those.

Finally, my CD is back in stock at CD Baby, so please go sample some tracks and buy my CD! http://cdbaby.com/cd/briandilts.

Enjoy the snow! Never fear, spring is almost here.

Brian
